The American Dream

America is known by the land of  oppertunity. People travel to America to get a fresh star, to start with nothing, work hard and end up with sucess. This sentence  is called The American Dream and this dream is a central theme in tha book, Of Mice And Men. The characters hopes and dreams are relative to this theme. Do all the dreams come true?

Almost all the characters in this book has a dream. Crooks is a man who comes from a diffrent country

then USA. He is used to be threated diffrently then the other guys at the farm. All he want is to bethreaten equal, he wants to sleep in the same room as the white people.

Candy does also have a dream. He is an old man and he knows that when he can not work any longer, the owners will throw him out. That`s why he wants to move to the little dream hous with George and Lennie, where he can live peacefully and work until he dies.

Lennie and George almost have the same dream, the big one wants to live on a farm with many animals and his bestfriend George. Lennie is not very clever, but he is very strong. To feed animals is his favorite thing, and when they move to the little farm that would be his work. George is the smart one, who wants work and live on a farm, and he knows just which one!
The `Tart, also known as Curleys wife, wants to be a famous actor or a singer. She had the opportunity ones, but her mother said no because she only was fitheen years old.

The end of the story is very sad. It shows the reader that The American Dream didn`t  allways work out. for Lennie and Curley`s wife it didn`t work out, in the end of the book they both die.

So I guess that to start with nothing, work hard and end up with sucess, didn`t work out for everyone.
